318 is coming out, and that's the 10th release of GNOME 3. It's about 5.5 years of development, and 4.5 years of use.

In those 4+ years, Gnome Shell has almost exactly the same issues on workspaces as day one.

1. You cannot easily recognize similar windows
While there was some work on this, like the relative window size, it is still hard. AppIcon is missing, window titles are not quickly noticed, and in general I very often pick the wrong window.

In any case, I find it impossible to have more than 4 windows on the same workspace. Lack of minimize makes things tougher in case you want to bring specific windows on focus for while, not to mention the weird alt tab.

2. You cannot move workspaces
Issue 1 comes worse because we cannot re-arrange workspaces order. So having lots of windows in one workspace, rearrange them will involve moving several windows around.

3. You cannot see running apps on workspaces
That's the worst. Behind Atom (workspace 2) and Chromium (workspace 1) there are several application running, that we cannot see or move, unless we go in this particular workspace.

So, I'm a little bit disappointed that those issues haven't been solved yet. On the other hand there are extensions to help out! Without them, I would probably be on Pantheon I think, that has done great job on virtual desktops.

And to conclude, I hope extension authors to update on time for GNOME 318!
