Honda confirms CRF1000L Africa Twin for 2015
The CRF1000L Africa Twin, which will now be the flagship adventure motorcycle from Honda, is supposed to be launched first in the European markets by the end of 2015. As the name suggests, the CRF1000L Africa Twin will sport a twin-cylinder 1000cc engine, details of which are undisclosed for the moment. Though it is expected that the mill will have its roots in the 999cc engine which is currently doing its duty on the CB 1000R as well as CBR 1000RR.
From the images which Honda has teased for this upcoming Africa Twin, it is clear that the motorcycle is pretty distinctive from the crowd of adventure motorcycles from its competitors. The bike will feature all the obvious design cues of an adventure motorcycle, such as raised suspension, high seating posture and off-road tyres.
Honda has also confirmed that the motorcycle will be offered with an improved version of the company’s much acclaimed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) as an option, which can also be seen in its other offering, the VFR 1200F. With this new upcoming motorcycle, the ‘Africa’ nameplate has risen from the ashes, which debuted way back in 1988 in the original XRV650 Africa Twin, which was then succeeded by XRV750.
