I pass this showroom every day on my way to work. Today's offering was special even by their standards.

Amongst the McLaren F1 Road and race cars was the McLaren P1 XP2R. Thus is the car McLaren used for a lot of the setup work at the Nordschleife before the P1 was released to the public.

McLaren uses three types of code on its development vehicles: XP denotes early test cars, VP for later ones and PP for nearly finalised models. Respectively, the tags indicate 'eXperimental', 'Validation' and 'Pre-production'. The '2' indicates that the car is the second test car, while the 'R' discloses that it is a revised prototype.
